About Tamarack

Tamarack was founded in 1996 as a member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).

Grade 3

Tamarack was founded in 1996 as a member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).

Enrollment is over 240 children, age three through 8th grade.

The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program enables the school to attract students from many socio-economic levels and many neighborhoods. Children come from City of Milwaukee neighborhoods, as well as Bayside, Fox Point, Germantown, Glendale, Greendale, Hales Corners, Shorewood, St. Francis, Port Washington, Racine, Wauwatosa, West Allis, West Milwaukee, and Whitefish Bay. Tamarack is also racially and culturally diverse.

Tamarack is a self-run, non-profit private school. The Board of Trustees is composed of parents, community volunteers and faculty. The board oversees the legal and financial aspects of the school. The pedagogy and curriculum are overseen by the faculty, who work by consensus (there is no principal or headmaster). The Tamarack Parent Association-Community Circle is open to all parents and supports the school in many ways, including organizing the Winter Fair and the spring benefit party.

Seasonal festivals bring the Tamarack School community together. Although Tamarack is a non-sectarian school, it honors and cultivates the spiritual and religious traditions of its students.

Students in grades 5-8 can participate in sports teams organized through nearby sports leagues.

Before and After School Care is available from 7:30-8:15 AM and 3:00-5:30 PM.
