Initial Contact
Prior to submitting an application, you will want to gain a first hand experience of Tamarack by attending an Open House, an Information Evening, or taking a tour of our school and talking with our Enrollment Coordinator, Sarah Stokes. The formal admissions process at Tamarack begins by submitting an application along with an application fee of $35. The fee is waived for Milwaukee Parental Choice Program participants. Applications are accepted year-round and continue until a class is full. After your application is received, you will be notified of an interview with the teacher. For kindergarteners, the interview is done in a group format. For students grade 1-8, a request for school records (if necessary) will be made; upon receipt of these, the teacher will call to set up an interview appointment. Your son or daughter may visit the classroom before or after the interview. Upon acceptance, the school Administrator will send a letter to your family.
Milwaukee Parental Choice Program
Tamarack participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (Voucher) Program. In the 2008-2009 academic year, a family residing in the city of Milwaukee would be eligible for the program if, in the case of a family of four, its yearly income is less than $37,439. If your family will be participating in Choice, your application needs to be received during the Open Enrollment Period; the Enrollment Coordinator will supply that information.
Tuition Reduction
It is central to the vision of Tamarack that Waldorf Education be available to all those who recognize its value. Our goal is to create a diverse community that includes families with a wide variety of financial capacities while remaining responsible to our economic obligations. For families who do not qualify for the Choice Program, tuition reduction may be available. To be considered you must submit an application to the school's Tuition Reduction Committee. They will review it and make recommendations for tuition agreements that reflect the human and organizational realities of our community.
