U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School Award Ceremony

On August 8, 2023 Tamarack Waldorf School received the honor of accepting the 2023 U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon School Award.

Dorothy Kulke, Tamarack’s Enrollment and Outreach Coordinator, was in Washington D.C. in August to accept the Award on the School’s behalf. In addition the to award ceremony, Dorothy attended meetings, site visits, tours, and breakout sessions to foster connections with like-minded schools and institutions. The event also increased awareness about programs that help schools and learning institutions become environmentally sustainable and healthier for students, staff, and communities.

Henry McKoy, director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of State and Community Energy Programs
Maggie Thomas, special assistant to the President for Climate.


Honorees were named in April from a pool of candidates nominated by 18 states.
