Tamarack Waldorf School has been in its current location on Milwaukee’s vibrant East Side since 2001. It is situated within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Milwaukee is rich in its cultural heritage and diversity celebrating it with many festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year and city. As part of the Great Lakes Region, we are fortunate to have four distinct seasons of the year, with plenty of activities that take place to celebrate the changes of season. Academic Interventionist

Tamarack is accepting applications for dedicated and passionate Academic Interventionist to join our learning support team. This role is crucial in supporting students experiencing academic challenges, helping them develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success in a manner that meets the developmental needs of all children.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Approach each child and colleague with reverence; model a respectful and kind attitude. Recognize that each person is on their own journey and needs patience and guidance to develop their individual skills.

  • Provide one-on one or small group instruction through Learning Support for the early childhood and grade school classes that enhance the Waldorf curriculum as prescribed by Rudolf Steiner and work with those ideas in an informed and responsive manner. 

  • Provide in-class instruction for grade school classes that enhance the Waldorf curriculum as prescribed by Rudolf Steiner and work with those ideas in an informed and responsive manner to address learning loss in the Language Arts curriculum. 

  • Assist in providing and creating assessments for students in math and reading skills in coordination with the Learning Support Coordinator.

  • Determine academic gaps for each student assessed and suggest/document an intervention plan.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty and Learning Support Coordinator to determine curriculum needs and goals for Math and Reading instruction in Grades 1-8.

  • Report regularly to parents and teachers on student progress ensuring all reports are properly documented.

  • Work in collaboration with and share information with all teachers and Learning Support personnel about the needs and accommodations for students. 

Experience in the general education and intervention roles preferred. Interventionists will work primarily with students in Early Childhood to Grade 3 or Grade 4 through Grade 8.

Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking an Early Childhood Lead Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth; demonstrating effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and with the Anthroposophical principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred. Candidates enrolled in Waldorf teacher training will be considered but all applicants will be expected to complete a Waldorf certification program.

Expectations, Skills and Responsibilities

The teacher will be responsible for providing a Waldorf Early Childhood education to our students in a mixed-age class. This position requires a deep understanding of Waldorf early childhood pedagogy as well as the ability to bring Waldorf curriculum to meet the needs of each child as well as the whole class. They will be expected to assess and evaluate the evolving needs of each child in their care through observation, record keeping and working with our end-of-the-year report writing and first-grade readiness screener.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Have an interest and understanding of Waldorf educational philosophies and pedagogy

  • Work well with the parents and provide parental education on the Waldorf curriculum

  • Create a healthy class community

  • Have a love of nature and be willing to explore with the children the east side of Milwaukee, even in inclement weather

  • Commit to self-development and have a growing relationship with Anthroposophy

  • Serve the school through committee work and administrative responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, administration and other school realms

  • Demonstrate warmth, compassion and clarity in working with both children and their parents/caregivers

  • Work closely with the assistant teacher to create an environment of warmth, love and security for the children in their care

  • Observe and care for each child’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development

Tamarack Waldorf School offers a competitive base salary and additional compensation, commensurate with experience and credentials, is added to the base salary. A full-time salaried faculty member is entitled to benefits: health, vison and dental insurance, professional development, and tuition reduction. Early Childhood Assistant

Tamarack Waldorf School is currently seeking part-time Kindergarten Assistants for the 2025-2026 school year.  The qualified candidates must have a love for the work and play of children and demonstrate care and patience for children ages 4-7. Lifeways or Waldorf Teacher Training and a B.A. are preferred. Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA and WECAN, has a robust K – 8th grade enrollment of approximately 240 students, and participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (voucher) Program. We have a culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region and strive to meet the needs of every student. Our Early Childhood teachers are trained in many disciplines with a focus on the young child. They are innovative, professional, and will guide their assistants through a deeper understanding of the curriculum. Tamarack faculty and students are fortunate the school is within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. Candidates must have a love for outdoors and a passion for exploration of the neighborhood. Kindergarten assistants may be required to walk two miles or more in a day, in all weather, and on varied terrain.

First Grade Class Teacher

Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking a full-time First Grade Class Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and within the guiding principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred. Candidates enrolled in Waldorf teacher training will be considered but will be expected to complete a Waldorf certification program.

Our classrooms are culturally and socioeconomically diverse and our top candidate must prioritize their curriculum development to work with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Fund Development Specialist

The Fund Development Coordinator supports Tamarack Waldorf School by coordinating fundraising and friend-raising efforts that engage and enliven the school community, support its budget, and help carry out its mission. They will promote positive relationships both within the school community and the community at large in ways that inspire people to become involved and support the financial and general well-being of the school. Joining a supportive administrative team, dynamic faculty, and dedicated board, they will work to bring Tamarack into an exciting new phase of growth and transformation.


Responsibilities include:
Create and implement the school’s current and future plans to engage the community in the economic realm of the school, working with parents, alumni, the Board of Trustees, and administration.

  • Cultivate relationships with donors, grandparents, alumni, and parent volunteers to conduct the Annual Appeal Campaign and annual fundraising events.

  • Encourage and facilitate activities that build positive relationships with parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends from the greater community so that gifts of work, wealth and wisdom are welcomed and integrated into the school’s achievement of its plans.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Outreach Committees to ensure a strong, positive image of the school in the greater community.

A Bachelor’s degree and experience in community-oriented fundraising is desired. Experience in major gifts development, capital asks, event management, annual campaigns, and current development software are strongly preferred. An enthusiasm for Waldorf education and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are also highly valued.
